I really like this video
saw these guys a while back, it was intense.
Mick Jones has endorsed a few bands over the years, most of which I didn’t really take a liking to (libertines etc). But I feel this band, The Savage Nomads, are really delivering something new to guitar music.

Gustav Courbet, The Desperate Man, 1944-45
Courbet, named ‘the Mick Jagger of the19th century’ by Linda Nochlin, was one of the first bohemian artists who turned away from the Academy. In this one painting he displays all the frustration, anger and despair he feels towards the institution and society that he is trapped within.

In 1907, Klimt unveiled his three commissioned paintings for he University of Vienna, also known as the Faculty Paintings. Yet the paintings were hugely criticised, coming under attack for ‘pornography’ and ‘perverted excess’ and they were never displayed. In 1945, they were destroyed by the Nazis and now all that remains as evidence for their existence is a few faded photographs and preliminary sketches.
Philosophy
Klimt: “On the left a group of figures, the beginning of life, fruition, decay. On the right, the globe as mystery. Emerging below, a figure of light: knowledge.” Critics were disturbed by its depiction of men and women drifting in an aimless trance.

Medicine
On the right hand side, a column of nude figures represents the river of life. To the left, a young nude female floats in space, with a newborn infant at her feet. They represent life, while the skeleton seen within the river of life represents death. At the bottom we see the figure Hygieia, the goddess of health and sanitation in Greek and Roman mythology, the daughter of the god of medicine.

Jurisprudence
Here a condemned man is seen suffering the wrath of the surrounding circle of the three female furies: Truth, Justice and Law. They are portrayed as the Eumenides, the Greek deities of vengeance, punishing the condemned man with an octopus’s deadly embrace. The resulting conflict has been seen as psycho-sexual.

An image of creativity: the creative space decorated with photographs and copies of art works, the creativity of the woman absorbed in her writing, and the creative possibilities of the new medium of photography.
